Hey people,

This is for the people who did not turn up today. Tomorrow meet outside com lab 1 at 6.45 am. Attire is white shirt, long black pants/ skirt, black shoes, black socks and band jacket. For girls wearing skirt, no short skirts allowed. Minimum is knee length. Not a single inch above the knee will be accepted. For the socks it must be pure black and no ankle socks. Those girls wearing skirts, make sure socks is half knee length. If anyone wears ankle socks, I am going to make sure that I cut the front of the socks and then pull it up. Please report on time tomorrow. All the best for the parade tomorrow. Have a good night rest and make sure before the parade tomorrow, drink lots of water and have your breakfast too! Also, after the parade everybody can change their red shirts and shoes but you can only change to school shoes. No casual shoes or slippers will be accepted. see ya guys TMR!!

Hey everyone. This shall be my last post for all of you on this blog. Firstly, let me tell you my past experiences, in other words my band life. But before that, just to give all of you something to think about --- the band world is tough but yet, satisfying.

It was like just a few days ago when I joined the band as a Secondary 1 student. I could still recall vividly almost everything that I gone through, when I first stepped into the melodious band room, who was once a total stranger to me. When I set my first foot in, I was like many of you in secondary 1--happy but afraid. Happy to be in an all new environment, but frightened that the upcoming tasks would be torturous. Indeed, it was hard, but somehow, I managed to tighten my jaws and got through it. I could remember clearly when I saw those new scary faces of the Majors and those friendly faces of my seniors, Kit Jang and Samantha. They had taught me well in terms of my basic playing skills and of course, I feel grateful to them. It was then the first time I saw this long, amusing at that time, instrument called the Bassoon. And it was then the first time I finally managed to produce a sound on it after a few tries. I was over the moon and overwhelmed with joy and laughter. The band camp was memorable, as for the very first time, the current Secondary 4 members really did one solid bang, and I really mean one solid bang, not once, not twice, but thrice CONSECUTIVELY. Seeing the amazed expressions of our seniors then, we really felt a sense of accomplishment. It was satisfaction beyond description and we felt that all our tough training has been really worth it. Right before the Secondary 4 seniors stepped down; I had my very first performance at the Nanyang Girls High School Auditorium. The Showcase of the pieces played during the important competition. I could still recall the exact names of them, named ' Imperatrix Overture' and 'Glasgow Fair'. That was a performance I really enjoyed. However all good times have to end and soon, we were already waving goodbye to graduating batch.

Then comes Secondary 2 life. A brand new start to another chapter of my journey in band. This petit, quiet boy once again was playing his bassoon. This was the year i improved the most and learnt the most. From knowing how to figure out rhythms, to knowing how to read notes, to knowing how to play scales, to knowing how to develop a better sound. I was simply glued to the amazing instrument of mine. Of course, the next batch of leaders had to step down and pass on their positions. I then got my very first position as the Principal Player of the Lower Woodwinds section. I was after that, forced to become an independent learner as my senior had stepped down, and that was when i gained another companion, Amirah. Then comes my first competition, the 2nd National Band Contest where we clinched our very first Gold with Distinction in history with our two pieces, 'March 'Blue Sky'' and 'Kanata Spring'. Yet for the huge achievement, we weren't overpowered by complacency and continued to strive for another achievement. The Silver award in the 21st Century International Festival in Genting Highlands we got with 'Dream City' and 'Funiculi Funicula', was another motivation to the band to work even harder to attain better results. Also, like many others, I’ve enjoyed the Genting trip very much as it was my first time going overseas together with the band for a competition and for instrumental workshops. Secondary 2 was also the year i made many strong bonds with my seniors of other sections and we could hang all day. It was very much of a help as they could help me in my school work and also the improvement of my sound quality on the bassoon. A fruitful year indeed!

It seemed just yesterday that i got promoted to Secondary 3 when my secondary school life had a turning point. This dude, yet again wearing his usual yellow T-shirt was already in the second final year of secondary school life. This year, i started to open up more and was more outgoing. This was perhaps due to the leadership workshop i participated in the previous year by Tim Lautzenheizer, maker of the Essential Element. I was a little louder, but still as quiet during band hours. Then about the third month, I was offered the Major post under probation. There and then, I was excited but also, scared of the massive responsibility to bear. Of course, getting reprimanded by the Majors, Mr Ong and the teachers was inevitable. Honestly, I made many mistakes, but I was brave enough to own up and apologise for my mistakes. The Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) was not long away. I had to practice my parts and at the same time, learn to be a leader. It sure was pressurizing, with tons of school work adding on to the load on my shoulder. However, with encouragements from many, I stood up to my feet once again. This is the power of encouragement. The power of a band, a team. The competition finally came and I could remember that we were all nervously ready to play the two unforgettable pieces--'Overture no. 1 for Wind Band' and 'Funiculi Funicula'. After we played the two pieces, I saw many of us crestfallen and some even started to tear. I too, was not satisfied at all, as I felt that I could have done a lot better. Nevertheless, we managed to clinch a Silver Award, which was overall, still satisfying. I can proudly say that we did a great job because we put in our best efforts, did our best. SYF Showcase was one of the memorable events in my journey with the band. On that day, many shed tears of joy and sadness. I too, could not bear to leave my seniors. We practiced hard for that day and when it finally came, we put in all we had and I am sure all of us enjoyed our last performance with our seniors. An inspiring performance indeed! After that I was then officially given the Drum Major position. Everyone was looking up to me, and all I felt was pressure and pride. But what was waiting for me ahead was never ending tasks that put me into test. It starts with simple tasks of falling in and out of all of you, to advanced tasks of working with Mr Ong, administrative committee, and executive committee. From advanced tasks of calling all of you one by one to ask for concert responses, to difficult tasks of calling parents up, advising some of you to come for band and motivating some of you to practice your parts. You know who you are, the usual few sitting at the first row. Life as a Drum Major has been rather challenging, but I always had the administrative committee to lighten my load. Miscommunications had always been a critical problem among us. And so we had to cross-refer with many other people to ensure that the news received was accurate and reliable. In this year, I was somehow pushed to conduct the muster parades and I gladly took up the challenge. My first time was difficult but still, I think that I gained a lot.

Secondary 3 life as a Drum Major was as such till the start of November period where I had to attend the Non-Commissional Officer (NCO) Camp at the Co-Curriculum Activity Branch (CCA Branch). It was a day camp that lasted over five days, from 8am to 6pm every day. There, I learnt a lot. I learnt about many new drill commands that even I had heard for the first time. Also, I got to socialise with many of the Drum Majors all around Singapore. I’d also learnt how to execute mace drills to lead the band. It had been a fruitful camp as there were many lectures and unforgettable moments. Almost every day, we, the Drum Majors had to do an hour of consecutive foot drills and straight after that, we had to rush into the lecture room soaking. It was really the kind where water would drip naturally without you doing anything to the shirt. On the last day, we had an NCO passing out parade in the night, and I remembered vividly ONLY TWO PEOPLE from the band came to support your Band and Drum Majors. I would like to extent my gratitude to the two people. The last major event that happened in the year was the band camp. I was rushing day and night for the camp proposal as it received rejections after rejections. I found myself doing most of the proposal. However, without the contributions from the administrative committee, I wouldn’t have been able to summit a splendid proposal. Although it was just a short 2 day 1 night camp, I could see the effort shown by all of you. The dance, the performance, all the fun and hardship we went through was awesome, seeing the turnout of the camp. It was a success for you and for me. Through the camp I see leadership qualities emerging from many of you, and many of you turning from a boy to a man, a girl to a woman. It was another achievement.

Then comes Secondary 4 life, the hardest of all times. It was the crucial year of our glory or failure. It started off with the Secondary 1 orientation which was exciting. It was successful, attracting many Secondary 1 students. My aim for the year was to brush up all your foot drills, which apparently could not be fulfilled. My vision was for the entire band to march during the passing out parade, and shut those mouths of the people who have been constantly criticizing us. This was a challenge I made for myself and at the same time for the band to scale greater heights, but still, my attempts was futile due to the time constrain and also partly due to the standard of your foot drills. Thus, I had no choice but to abort the plan. But still, I look forward to the day where you all can help me fulfil my dreams. Then came the muster parade just 4 days ago. The student conductor finally got the chance to conduct! I too, felt happy for her. The muster parade was an extremely great job done, despite that it was a little screwed up because apparently, the emcee screwed up. But still, all of you continued to pay attention and watch the conductor. This is an action worth praising. Keep it up! And finally, Speech Day. It was the current Secondary 4 members’ last performance. Everything started at 1.45pm where you were all anxiously waiting outside the band room. After loading everything into the truck, we boarded the bus and set off for our destination. This day, I promised myself not to shout and reprimand any of you and indeed, I didn’t! All of you were listening and obeying our instructions and we did not need to scold. The school song was totally awesome and so were the other three songs! There was an overpowering sensation in me as we were playing the final piece, ‘Brass Rock’. Straight after that, many of us were already starting to break down. I thought that it was already an incredibly nice performance put up by us. The next moment, we were already in the wine lounge, where many of us once again shed tears that were uncontrollable. I must admit, I felt sadness beyond description too. It was just too soon to wave goodbye to all of you. I could not bear to leave all of you. However, what had to come will eventually come. Many started to take photographs of memento, and hugging one another. This showed the strong bonds we really had with each other. After dinner, we had to load up all our stuffs again. This time, I was very unhappy with the way you all did. Only 14 people came to help and among these 14 people, half of them were the Secondary 4 members. The rest were just sitting in the bus, waiting for things to happen. I certainly hope that this would not happen ever again. We then reached school late and thus had only 20 minutes of time and 15 of it was used up in the unloading and transporting of instruments, resulting in 5 minutes for the rest of the stuffs. We did not have time for a proper handover ceremony. I had something for each and every of you, but well, I did not have the time. It’s alright; I’ll just come back next practice.

This concludes my journey with the Chua Chu Kang Band. I’ve gone through 4 years with it, from being ordered to ordering. I’ve seen the changes in the 4 generations, from an immediate “YES SIR” to currently, a “huh... don’t want la”. I see the current Secondary 3 members mature into man and woman, and sorry, this is the time I had to let go. I was like the father of the band, showing care and concern to your welfare, but I could only help all of you till this point. From now onwards, you have to become independent learners.

Thank you all for working together with me for the past one year. My journey in the Band would not have been fun if not for all of you, and without you all, I would not have accomplished as a leader. I would like to thank the entire Band for everything. Thanks for cooperating, even though many a times u were shouted at. Even when u failed me, u know I love you. You were the most interesting band of people I’ve ever met and led. I've enjoyed the times spent together with you and I certainly hope you do too. All the best for the upcoming National Band Contest and everything else. Continue to cooperate with your new Majors. Do not make their life hard as they will do the same thing to you. I will surely be back if I have the time, alright?

To the future majors: It’s going to be a tough job but you have to bear with it for the sake of the band. We often have to burden entire responsibility for the mistakes of the band, but that is what our roles as majors are about. I’ve been constantly blamed for the bad playing of the band, since Secondary 3 during muster parades, reprimanded by the teachers for releasing the people late when they are the ones who are not cooperating, blamed by other Uniform Group chairmans for uneven drum beats during parades, receiving criticism for the playing of National Anthem, lectured by Mr Ong for the slow movement of the band, and of course all these are not known by the band. However still, I can say that I am proud to be the Drum Major of this splendid band!

Today marks the passing out of all sec 4s and 5s. You can officially address us as Sirs and Ma-ams. The muster parade was an extremely great job done, despite that it was a little screwed up because apparently, the emcee screwed up. But still, all of you continued to pay attention and watch the conductor. This is an action worth praising. Keep it up! :D Now what's left is just the speech day rehearsal tomorrow and the actual speech day performance. The space given to us will be rather small, i would say, after seeing the space given on Tuesday. So please bear with it. I'll try my very best to fight for more space.

Thirdly, to the seniors, pls try to push a little by a little more on ur juniors n do impart all ur skills to them. This applies especially to the sec 4s. Teach ur juniors everything u noe. Ur sec 3s n 2s muz be better than u. Only then, the band can upgrade as the batchs goes by.

Happy Chinese New Year!
Take note that there will not be any majulah tomorrow on Wednesday, which is tomorrow.
But there will be CCA.
SLs be reminded that you need to get your Sectional booklets from the shelf, on top of the box containing reeds and record:
-Sectional activities as individuals
-Sectional activities as a section
-Problems encountered during sectionals(eg. not together, cannot follow the group, people not cooperating)
-What have you learnt
Don't worry I will emphasise on this tomorrow with you.
Anyway the space '' Break instructed by leaders'' was meant to be long breaks eg. 10 minutes break for long sectionals, but you are allowed to have your section taking short breaks. So I hope it doesn't confuse you guys.

Yoz ppl!

A few things to address. First, the national anthem tat u played this monday morning. It was really really.........beyond description. All i can say is, open up ur ears n listen. Practice more, n do not have the "it's juz majulah" attitude. Pls treat every national anthem playing session seriously. I do not wan 2 c a repeat of it ever agn, n i noe u too, wouldn't wan to. So lets work hard tgt n get our attitude right. Don let other ppl say tat we r not good or we suck or wadever. i m sure tat u will wan to hear praises.

Nxt, i still wanna emphasize on takin ur sectionals seriously. Ppl, u muz firstly get ur mindset right. I noe everyone of u wanna become good players. So pls practice. U will nvr be able to perfect a piece of music, believe it or not. Even professional players thinks tat they have lots n lots of room 4 improvement. How do u become a good player? It's simple, as long as u r willing to put in hardwork. If ur basics r not up to standard, u jolly well go back to the basic stage n improve on ur foundation! Ur knowledge of music is far frm good. Even mine is not anywhere near to good. Don even mention abt slacking. Ppl frm other bands don even dare to slack.

First of all, HAPPY 2010!!! :D My wish 4 the band is tat we can produce better sound in this year and obtain better results. I wish tat all of u will have more initiative n pay more attention to ur sectionals and full band time. If u dunno anything, ASK! And i also wish tat, more Sec 1s will join the band!!! :)

Secondly, i wanna thank all of u 4 being cooperative n making the band camp a huge success! :) I m certain that every1 enjoyed themselves rite? Cos it was planned by the Admins! So, LETS GIVE THE ADMINS A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE! *clapssss* People of year 1994, welcome to Sec 4 life =.= This is our year of glory or failure... Work hard! :) Sec 3s this will be your most enjoyable year. Some call this the failing year, others call it the opportunity year. This year, some of u may fail many of ur class test. But, nvr give up! Everything will juz turn out fine. Also, Carpe diem! Meaning seize every opportunity u have, regardless of goin overseas or any YFC chances, or juz showing the people frm other countries around singapore! Enjoy this year cos when u go to sec 4, u wont have anymore chance to do it. This is the year u become seniors n lead the band. Give ur juniors specific instructions n no slacking as much. Always rmb tat a lot more r expected from u all! :) Sec 2s this is the real start of ur band life. This year, many of u will make drastic improvements in ur playing skills. Juz listen during full band! Listen to who is playing the melody, harmony, bass, and think carefully the volume u shld play at. Know when to bring ur parts out. Always settle ur rhythm problems first using a metronome n drawing the box. Then procceed on to ur notes. Fing n Sing, then Tongue n Sing. After tat, u work on ur sound, dynamics, articulations. Follow instructions n u will certainly improve trememdously! Listen to ur seniors and stop slacking! All of u have the potential in u. It is juz if u wanna unleash it or not. SUMMARY: Just bring all the things stated on the packing list on 28 dec 2009. There should not be anyone forgetting anything and bringing it over on the next day as we had already stated the things to bring clearly. No excuses. And one more thing, remember to bring S$4 for your lunch. It's compulsary to pay regardless of wheather you consume them. So i advice that all of you have your lunch. Last thing. THINGS TO TAKE NOTE:

The practice on 28th has been changed to a DAY CAMP, which means your camp officially starts on the 28th December. You all are to bring everything you need for the overnight camp on the 29th and it will be locked in your respective dormitories. This is so that in case you forget anything, you still have monday night to go home and get it.

Lunch on the 28th will be catered, however since our band does not have enough money to pay for the lunch, each member has to pay $4 each for their lunch. Lunch will consist of Mee siam, Fried Chicken, Grilled Fish, Agar Agar and fruit punch. Whether you eat it or not will be up to you, but you must pay. PLEASE remember to bring the money on the 28th and pay to Chun ting.

Please make sure you are present on 28th as there will be no time on the 29th to do anymore group allocation. Each group will have two appointed leaders. Your sec3 in the group will be in charge of keeping your electronic gadgets. Reason being, when you all are doing activities, it wouldnt be safe for you all to be carrying your phone around, and also it would be very troublesome for you to carry it around while doing games, drills etc. So most of the time, your gadgets will be kept with your sec3 group I/C unless there's an emergency.

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BRING SNACKS, however you will need to surrender it to Chun Ting on 28th or 29th when you arrive. As the POP will be on the 29th at 8pm, you all will need to get ready early. Hence Dinner will be served early too. Therefore, if after POP anyone of you are to be hungry, you can look for Chun Ting to get your snacks and eat in the void deck or canteen. NO FOOD ALLOWED IN DORMS.

Please try to bring a watch as well because your phones will not be with you and our schedule for the camp is very packed and we cannot afford any delays otherwise it will be eating into your sleep time.

Awards will be given out. The criteria for the awards will be announced on 28th dec! :) And one thing for sure is that you will be judged for your punctuality and participation.

Since most of you all didnt come for band practice yesterday, here's a copy of the packing list:

It's time all of u get serious. i m sure all of u wanna put up a gr8 performance during the POP nite. so frm now on, follow instructions n do not waste time. when there's a time limit given, u jolly well follow it. n during full band, no chatting pls. the noise level is turning frm bad 2 worse. Sec 1s. u have been in band for nearly 1 year n i trust tat all of u shld noe the rules very well by now. we have been very nice to all of u up till now. so, rules will b more strict frm now on. we were forced into this. who is to be blamed? ask urself tat question. there might b conflict among some of u, but pls do not bring them into band. in band, every1 is shld b treated equally in band.
Ppl, grow up. don get fed up juz for some immatured remark. don b immatured, insecured, n indulge urself into insensitivity as it will oni result in instantaneous incompetancy n inefficiency. n wad usually is the result? to quit band. Oh come on. Is tat wad u really wan, band? U muz bear in mind tat u urself were the ones who chose band. we did not choose u, but u chose us. since u chose it willingly, it implied tat u had interest. now, juz bcos some1 u don favour is in the same cca as u, u rather give up ur interest than face the reality. the solution is not to run away, but 2 face it.
Sec 2s. the same things apply 2 u too. some of u r skipping band practices more n more. y izzit so? izzit bcos we had been always closing an eye n pretending not to c ur actions? i noe it is after exams. but this does not give u the excuse to not come, juz bcos u wanna have fun with ur other frens. Since it's after exams, the more time u have, n the more u shld come. No more excuses, ppl. Many of u, slacking all the way during sectionals. it is not called "slacktionals" for a reason, u c. when we tell u to practice, the usual ans will b "i noe how 2 play alr". but in the band room, wad we recieved is crap. u continue practicing until u perfect it. unless u perfect all the pieces, technique books, chorales, rhythm practices, there's no reason y u shld b slacking during sectionals. So, can we have a lot more cooperation frm all of u?
Pls improve on ur discipline. the highest level of discipline is SELF DISCIPLINE.

Next, rhythm quiz. gr8 improvement in terms of the no. of ppl failing. frm 22 ppl 2 14 ppl. however, i strongly believe tat a greater improvement can b made. RITE?? lol. our target: at least all pass. at most all full marks. ALL PASS. U CAN DO IT, BAND!!! i believe u can. so don disappoint me.

Lastly, hols prac. ppl tat cant make it for any of the days, pls provide a Medical Certificate(MC) or at least a parent letter. oso, inform ur SL or ck n me if u r unable 2 come for prac or if u r going for lessons in the mids of prac.
NOTE: concentration, determination n hard work is the key 2 success. concentrate when playin ur LCS. concentrate on counting the 20 counts n 10 count rest. don nid 2 worry abt the notes. u noe them, u've alr memorized them. juz count.

On wednesday, 31/7/09, every single one of u r 2 come for band. attendance will b taken.
Sec 3s, pls note tat u r oso required 2 come. it is strictly not optional. So ppl, pls turn up 4 band, especially sec 1s, since there is an instructor coming specially 4 u.
I understand tat oni percusion section is required 2 go down, but every1, u still nid 2 come 2 practice ur parade pieces. Sec 2s, pls use this time fully 2 practice n perfect the pieces. don think we dunno tat some of u have been faking through many of the pieces during the last few parades.

Some information about national day rehearsals:

On 29/7 and 31/7 next wed and fri, only percussion is involved. The band will join from 5/8 onwards
Further details will be given at a later date.
I know that we will not be ordering the actual band photos but CDs containing SYF photos will be given out to SYF participants (including the sec fours involved in SYF) . It might be free of charge.
Sec Threes:
Please remember to bring your thermometers. If you do not have one please get one. Please be at the band room by 1.30 tomorrow.

Time, date n venue: 5.00pm, 19 july sunday, Esplanade Concert Hall

Tickets was priced at S$12, but it is now reduced to S$10 because Mr Ong has been kind enough to offer to sponsor S$2 for each ticket. Of course, the money will b frm Mr Ong's own pocket, juz to let all of U to have a good time n have more opportunities to listen to concerts. Firstly, a piece of bad news. Band practices nxt week(1st week of sch) have all been cancelled :( Sad rite...i noe. so pls go home straight after sch on Wed 1 July n Fri 3 July. U might wanna record it down.

Hi all.

Firstly i hope that ppl who turned up last fri have enjoyed the bbq. Pls express ur gratitude to Chun Ting for being nice enough to host this event in her house.

Secondly, this is the latest news i've juz received frm the teachers in-charge. Fresh frm the "oven". Everyone, pls b informed that all band practices this week have been cancelled. All the sec 3s pls oso take note that the sec 3 camp is cancelled. All these cancellations of activities n programmes are mainly due 2 the sudden rapid increase in H1N1 cases. Therefore, the sch is cancelling all these things so as to keep us safe frm virus attacks. This might be both a good news n a bad news, but i hope that u ppl will not 4get abt ur rythm, fingerings, amount of air needed, tone, running notes etc in the past week n the following week. Do take good care of yourselves this week, drink gallons of water. Once again, i emphasize that there is no band practice this week. DO NOT COME FOR BAND PRACTICES THIS WEEK!

HELLO CCK WINDS!

Recently, you all missed the Republic Polytechnic concert. Only TWO people from CCKWINDS went to support them, and one of the players was Kian Yong aka TERRY (the trombone guy who comes back frequently). The attendance was very dissapointing. Terry informed us way before hand, and even came down to school personally to sell these tickets to us. Going for concerts can be a way of showing appreciation to others etc. , but what's more important is that it gives us a chance to learn from them. I know some of you weren't free, didn't have enough money, or weren't allowed to go. But I'm sure that there were some of you who could go, but did not want to make the effort to go. This is not the first time, and I hope it would be the last.

Today, I'm going to update a concert and announce them to you all the next time I see the band.

THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING AND MAKING THIS BBQ HUGE SUCCESS!

Firstly, I would like to thank MR ONG for cooking the superrrrr delicious curry chicken (which finished within an hour) and taking time out to attend the bbq!

Secondly, I would like to thank the BBQ-ers (Benjamin, Eric, Gabriel, Daniel, Siokkan, Jazreel&Denise[Jaz's friend], Joseph, Samuel, Chuankui and many many more!) for BBQ-ing for us. Without you, there'll be no food no fire! ESP Eric,Gabriel and Benjamin who BBQ the entire time!

Thirdly, I would like to thank the "ushers" who brought the band members from Lot1 or the bus stop to my place (Insyirah, Sherry, Samuel, Irfan, Benjamin, Jazreel&Denise, and more!)!

Last but not least, I would like to thank EVERYONE for attending the BBQ. Though it was a failure at the start, all of you stayed and manage to have little/some/a lot of fun together. Thank you Irfan, Wenjie, Kelvin and boys for being so daring and helping out with the activities. And to the people who had fun speaking in the british accent, keep working on it. hahahaha inside joke.

As for the budget, each person who came has to pay $3-$7 to me. You can pay minimum $3, but maximum $7 :)

The Sec 4s has officially pass out from the band and we have now ourselves to depend on. Thursday was definately A Night to Remember for all of us, be it sad or happy. It was our last time performing with the Sec 4s. Look at how much the Sec 4s mean to us that majority of us were emotionally down before the performance.

Tomorrow is the SYF. I hope you hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. Check all your scores, ensure your tuners have batteries and make sure brassess bring you valve oil. If there is a need, bring an emergency score so if anything happens, there would be a back up plan. Okay, the generic instuctions aside, now for the motivational talk.

All of you have worked so hard for SYF. You've been through the ups and downs, and for most of us, this would be our last SYF in our secondary school life. After the night practices and exchanges, we hope that all of you will perform your best tomorrow. Remember the time we went to the National Band Competition? We worked till we couldn't sweat anymore. In the end, we got what we wanted.

Then not long after, we had the once in a secondary school life time to go overseas- to Genting Highlands. There, too, we worked ever so very hard to achieve the best we could. We think, the reward for attaining such achievements is the experience itself. We believe none of you can forget the moments we had our buffet, went out for starbucks, and even riding the cockscrew dozens of times. Its these small little things that we remember more than the competition.

In other words, its the journey that's important not the destination. We hope all of you have worked hard. So, tomorrow no matter what the result is, we can walk out of Singapore Conference Hall, saying that we did our best and have no regrets. We hope all of you will get the target that you have set. So tomorrow, walk in the concert hall, with immense pride and look at the audience with full confidence. Hold up your instruments and whisper to the them,

If u guys really want to aim for a Silver or probably a Gold, its worth going for the morning practices.Although its not compulsory, but think about it. There will be a concert performed by MI at RP( republic poly)the tickets are sold at $8. Mr ong will be conducting. Sherry, samuel, daniel would be playing.(not really sure about who is playin in it) please confirm with me whether you are going or not, latest by thrus, b4 the concert. this concert is conducted by mr ong, plus a few band members are playin in it. So i hope to see you guys coming for this concert, as it can be a form of support to them.

77% ,silver... We were so close to gold.
that was an international band competition, unlike NBC,
where there are different divisions.
to get a silver in this genting competition, it is good already.
But then there is Still SYF next year, so peeps, pls continue to practice hard for ur SYF.
get another good result.
prove to the sch and miss sim that we are capable to do so.

I bet many of u missed genting a lot, and want to stay there longer..
i even wanted to trip to last a week more.
it was so much fun.
so if u guys reali wan to go again.
i reali need u guys to practice hard for SYF.

There's a free concert at the esplanade at 3pm. Anyone that is interested please do sms me by tonight. Meeting place would be at Lot 1 control station , meet at 150pm.

Monday i will be opening the band earlier at ard 11am. I will double confirm if i can get the keys that early with the teachers incharge 1st. Then i will let you guys know again by tomorrow night.

People who wish to come for some self practice before the actual practice which will start at 1pm can do so. Please take note that it's for practice. Of course you can ask me questions about anything you don't know about the pieces you are practicing, i will be glad to help!

there will be band practise tml .
i want to see a much better attendance than on monday.
i know that on that day, the sec3 s are hvin classes, so the band looks rather small..
but then, there are still quite a number of sec 1s and 2s that are not around.
if u have a reason, please take the initiative to inform the teachers of SLs.

i hope tat u guys have alrdy know how to ply ur parts.
so tat mr ong can work through the whole piece instead of section by section durin full band..

2nd, today's attendance will extremely bad. Please count the number of days AND practices left before the 24th of Nov. Continuing this kind of shit = COP.

Sec 3s got bridging till 1pm. You cannot expect them to split into many many of them to go bridging and band at the same time right? Also sec 3s, i hope that on wednesday and friday you guys would take a heavier recess and go for band at 1pm straight, but you wish to eat at 1pm, i have no rights to stop you. Your decision. =D

3rd, if you got great ideas for the shirt, PLEASE KINDLY DONATE THE IDEAS TO RAIYAN. (That is if the design hasn't been submitted to the supplier) D= He's already very busy and still has to take care of LOTS of things.
